Watch: The School - "Where Does Your Heart Belong?" + "Never Thought I'd See The Day"

Yesterday I thought to myself "Whatever happened to The School? They're about due for another album, I think". Seems like someone heard my inner musings and decided to pay up. Today British retro pop group The School offers up "Where Does Your Heart Belong?", the second single from their new album Reading Too Much Into Things Like Everything. The follow up to 2010's Loveless Unbeliever, seems like the new album is a continuation of the group's nostalgia-fueled love ballads. Which is more of a feat than anything- to resist the urge to royally shake things up or experiment with your winning formula too much. It might sound like a lack of risk-taking or stagnation but just listen to "Where Does Your Heart Belong?" or lead single "Never Thought I'd See The Day" and you'll anything but. Reading Too Much Into Things Like Everything seems to be more of the lovelorn ballads with top shelf arrangements that Liz and her crew do oh so well. That's not a bad thing. Not by a long shot. The School release new video for "I Love Everything"

Even a year after it's release British retro-pop outfit The School are still producing singles off their debut album Loveless Unbeliever. This time, it's ballad track "I Love Everything" that gets the single/video treatment. Rather than do anything theatrical or dramatic, instead the video focuses on slice-of-life activities as performed by one of the band-members (the trumpet/tambourine player).

EDIT: Not the trumpet player. The actress is Paloma Castro.

Pitstop: The Voluntary Butler Scheme

I first found out about The Voluntary Butler Scheme on Eardrums Music blog about two years ago when they first featured. The Voluntary Butler Scheme is Rob Jones, a veritable one-man band using every tool at his command to create lovely indie pop gems with seemingly effortless ease. Since first leaving UK 60s-inspired indie pop group The School, he has released a number of singles and released his debut album At Breakfast, Dinner, Tea late last year.

In this video of Jones performing "Multiplayer" at the Oakford Social Club, you sort of get to see his queue-ing up of other instruments and such.

The School to release new album in May

The School is a London pop octet from Wales whose sound is greatly inspired by that of 60s girl groups. As a result, the songs have a focus on female vocals delivered with a dreamy, wide-eyed innocence accompanied by lush Phil Spector-esque arrangement. The band notably was signed to Spanish label Elefant Records after playing only 4 shows. That was sometime ago and now the fruits of the band's labor can finally be seen with the release of their debut album Loveless Unbeliever. The band will be selling them on their upcoming UK tour and the album will be available everywhere by May 31st.
