Lord Huron to release debut full length + tour dates

After what seems like ages of waiting but is actually more like a year and some change, California tropical pop invoking  Lord Huron are following their release of 2010's Into the Sun and Mighty EPs with their debut full length album entitled Lonesome Dreams. Other than it's October 9th release date (mark your calendars!) not too much else is known about it just yet. However their album trailer does feature new track "Time to Run" and should make you very excited about the album's release. Also, the band are going on a Fall tour in support of it so if you're anything like me and have yet to see the band live, quickly realize the error of your ways and plan to keep a night or two free just for them. You won't regret it.

Watch: Hundred Waters - "Boreal"/"Caverns" live

Even after the release of their debut self-titled album, Gainesville, Florida quintet Hundred Waters is continuing to do some pretty great things. If you weren't able to catch them on their previous pre-SXSW tour, you may be in luck: the quintet is more or less doing a victory lap. But if you're anything like me and simply can't wait until the start of touring next month, you're also in luck as Hundred Waters recently recorded a set of live videos for Consequence of Sound's new series Off the Avenue. If you've never experienced the pure splendor that is a Hundred Waters live show, you might want to brace yourself as you take a seat. In fact even if you have, that advice probably applies to you as well. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Earlier this year, singer/songwriting violinist and whistling enthusiast Andrew Bird made a stateside jaunt to a bunch of beautiful theaters (and a stage in Brooklyn), well turns out that was just a warm up. Bowerbirds to release new album, ready Spring tour, release new track

I remember when I saw the North Carolina folk rocker Bowerbirds in concert last year. Aside from a flawless set of album standards they had no problem playing new tunes for us, making it clear to everyone that a new album was definitely in the works. Now it's more or less a year later and the Bowerbirds are making good on their promise. Recorded over the last year at April Base Studios in Wisconsin with Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and mixing and mastering in New York City, the new album titled The Clearing, is just about to see the light of day. March 6th will see the release of this third album, a collection of songs that if their first peek is anything to go off of proves exactly why I love the Bowerbirds.

"Tuck the Darkness In" slowly builds momentum adding in little violin and brass ornaments as it plods along, picking up steam. With vivid nature imagery and appropriately used vocal harmonies, the new track has everything that makes for a killer Bowerbirds song without sounding like another song from their two album. Here's to 2012.

Fanfarlo release new video and announce tour dates

About a year ago, British indie-pop quintet Fanfarlo retreated from their globetrotting to write a record. And now with their album finished and set for release early next year, the band have made their triumphant return with new song/video "Replicate". While Fanfarlo has hinted at a more pop-centered sound for the new record, "Replicate" is more routed in the sounds of an indie orchestra than anything deliberately pop sounding.



The band is also embarking on a small world tour this Fall to tide fans over until the album's 2012 release date.

Arctic Monkeys release new video and tour details

I'm completely ashamed to admit this but I kind of forgot about The Arctic Monkeys. Nothing to do with them, they just kind of dropped off my radar after the release of their second album and I never heard about them again. So low and behold when I read that their newest song "Brick by Brick" (off their upcoming fourth album) has a music video. The new song is cleaner than I remember the band sounded but still has the appropriate amount of hard rock grit, that fans have come to love. The new song sounds a little like a combination of psychedelic and surf rock so it's no wonder the video features shots of the band on the beach in what would appear to be Los Angeles. The other half of the video is strangely enough just a vinyl record spinning around, along with some quick flashes of the band performing, and some recording equipment. For those lucky enough to hear about Brooklyn-based Norwegian singer/songwriter Sondre Lerche's 24 hour ticket pre-sale, they were gifted with new track "Ricochet". Now Sondre Lerche, fresh from a two day stint in Jakarta, is previewing another track from his new self titled album (out 6/2). Rural Alberta Advantage premiere new video and announce tour dates

Canadian Indie Rock Trio The Rural Alberta Advantage are just about to release their sophomore album Departing (out March 1st). To ease the wait, The trio premiered their new video for first single "Stamp" on The Wedge. Their video is surprisingly very meta featuring a "fan" commenting on the newness of the song and the "show" itself while a girl pines for the two male band members. Hilariously the fan only becomes interested in the girl when he realizes she knows the lyrics to the new song that he doesn't while the girl is solely interested in which band member she likes more. Splice in scenes of the band playing and you've got the video for "Stamp". Enjoy!:

tUnE-yArDs announces new album and tour dates

Last August at Summerstage, Merrill Garbus aka tUnE-yArDs played tons of new songs and at her secret show at The Rock Shop announced the next time she returned to New York, she would have a new record out. Garbus makes good on her promise with the announcement of her new album W H O K I L L out this April 19th on 4AD. Unlike her 2009 debut BiRd-BrAiNs, Garbus trades in her lo-fi DIY aesthetic for a cleaner studio sound funded from featuring "Fiya" in a Blackberry commercial.

Lykke Li announces new album

Fresh off the release of her sultry "Get Some" single and video, Lykke Li offered up some album details. The new album entitled Wounded Rhymes will be out in early March (the end of February if you're one of those lucky devils in the UK) and promises to be much darker than her sweetly innocent 2008 debut Youth Novels. Sure, the album had the Swedish singer declaring her fiery passion and work ethic on "I'm Good, I'm Gone" and banishing a lovelorn lover in "Breaking It Up" but they were done in kind of a cutesy way and Lykke Li is over that. Her sophomore album, produced by Peter, Bjorn, and John's Bjorn Yttling and released on her own LL Recordings, will see a more grown up but still remarkably independent Lykke Li. Not surprising with lyrics like "I'm your prostitute and you gon' get some" off the single. In an interview with Pitchfork, Lykke Li expresses her desire to be de-categorized as a cute Swedish female singer and instead for people to focus on her lyrics and what she has to say, instead of her looks. Here's hoping, Lykke Li.

Watch: Cast Spells - "Glamorous Glowing"

Maps & Atlases' frontman and Dave Davison sets off on his own this December as Cast Spells, his sideproject of similar awesomeness. To celebrate, there was the release of his debut music video for "Glamorous Glowing". The video has this multi-colored cube that's almost Rubik's cube like, floating and changing colors in a variety of different nature settings. Watch the video here:

The Bowerbirds announce Fall tour dates

North Carolina folk duo The Bowerbirds have more or less been quiet since their SXSW show but now the band has announced some brand new tour dates for the fall and I for one couldn't be more excited as it features what I think is the band's first ever visit to the Northeast.
